I
am returning from Montgomery, Alabama, the city that has released a
firestorm of controversy across the nation. Chief Judge Roy Moore
erected a 5000 lb monument of the 10 commandments in the public
courtyard of the Alabama State Supreme Court building, declaring the
law of God the foundation of law in America as rendered by our
forefathers in the constitution of the United States. He was advised to
remove the monument after a Federal Judge sided with a lawsuit against
Ray Moore. Moore refused to remove it on the basis of his oath to
uphold the constitution, not some judge’s interpretation of the
constitution. I felt led to fly with my son to pray on the steps of the
building where the commandments have been removed from public display
and hundreds have been gathering to pray and protest.
From the beginning of The Call, we knew that a main target of prayer
was the courts of America. Particularly, our cry was for God to rise up
judges who would judge from a foundation of truth in the fear of the
Lord. The last two months have demonstrated our desperate need for a
shift from judicial activism to judicial restraint. Homosexuality has
been “constitutionally legitimatize”, and the law of God and the
recognition of God in the public place have once again been ruled
against though an activist interpretation of the 1st amendment. Senate
filibusters have blocked conservative judge appointees from positions.
The main point of contention is over abortion. The hold on death
refuses to surrender. What we face is a spiritual battle of titanic
proportion. What will break the powers of the systems of injustice? Let
